Yes, salmon is a fish! Indigenous to Canada, both Pacific and Atlantic coasts. Pacific salmon is a rich, orangey, ruby-magenta while Atlantic salmon is a pale, coral, peachy-pink. Yes, we are writing a blog for flowers!

Before you go calling me a tacky, cheap, 95 year old grandma with no taste, PLEASE hear me out. I know what you are all thinking, “how can a 20 something, stylish, brilliant, creative young florist ever promote such an awful flower?” Am I right? Thought so. Well I am going to tell you why, but before you start judging me for my taste in flowers, have an open mind and remember all flowers are beautiful in their own way.

There is one thing that almost every bouquet has in common; greenery! If you buy or receive flowers regularly you’ve probably noticed that we always accent your flowers with foliage. “Would you like a few greens with that?” is a sentence I hear more than often working at Westmount Florist and it got me thinking…where would bouquets be without those awesome greens?

Each week we try to write blogs that appeal to our readers, customers, friends and staff. There is usually some sort of connection between what’s going on in our stores, to the blogs. During the week of Valentine’s day we wrote about roses, when we received our first shipment of spring plants we wrote about primulas…you get the idea. Today, with open arms, we welcomed a box from Japan full of the most amazing flowers I have seen in a long time.
