As florists we are lucky enough to be surrounded with amazing, beautiful colours every single day. From mauves to pinks, greens to yellows there is never a shortage of stunning hues in our stores. With so many shades to choose from, it’s almost impossible to crown one colour the colour of the year. Every year Pantone announces the “colour of the year” and they haven’t steered us wrong.
Last year “Honeysuckle” was spot on. This beautiful shade of blush pink was everywhere, in homes, makeup, fashion and even flowers. Pantone just announced the colour of the year to be “Tangerine Tango”, a refreshing blast of vibrant citrus that will take the world by storm. Pick up any fashion magazine; designers are already using Tangerine Tango in clothing, accessories and even backdrops of photo shoots. Eye catching is an under statement, Tangerine Tango literally pops in a floral arrangements. Said to be chosen because of its “sophisticated and dramatic undertones” Tangerine Tango will look beautiful in a bouquet accented with any other colour. Not only does Tangerine Tango appeal to both men and women, it’s also totally versatile. Mix this colour with purples, lime greens and fuchsias for a Moroccan themed arrangement or keep the bouquet in tones of tangerine for a more modern, monochromatic look. Or keep in country by adding creams and limey hues with lots of greenery and fluffy fillers.
“I love it!”, “It’s fresh!”, “I can’t wait to work with Tangerine Tango!” are just a few of the things our Westmount Florist team have been saying about this awesome colour. We already have lots of flowers in Tangerine Tango and we are looking forward to creating with it all year long!

Always loved this color; not orange, not pink, not terra-cotta... Just a lovely happy color. So much so that I decided to paint our living room Tangerine Tango. That was years ago. It took a long time to get official approval from the Chamber of Preservation -i.e. my husband! Finally did which earned me the title of President of the Chamber. All that being said, there is a myriad of "TT" shades, each more luscious than the other and all easily found in the floral universe of WF.
