Who Doesn't Like to Score?

Recently I’ve had a ton of friends and clients tell me how lucky I am to be working with flowers. While I know this is true, sometimes we lose sight of just how wonderful this industry is. I remember my Dad always telling me “you’ll meet the nicest people and love what you do everyday, florists are just nice people”! Some of my greatest friends are ones I’ve met thorough our business.
While the biz does have its ups and downs, it really is great 99.9% of the time. Although it can be extremely stressful at times, I somehow seem to thrive on stress. I call that “good” stress. The kind of stress that comes with having 700 orders to go out on a holiday…….or the stress of thinking the 10,000 roses ordered for a wedding may be sitting on an airport tarmac for 10 hours in the sun !!
We’ve all seen studies of what is good and bad for you and Harvard in particular has done numerous studies regarding how great it is for your mind, body and soul to be surrounded by flowers. Recently the daughter of a florist (yes one of my great friends I met through the biz) posted this article on my facebook page. It comes from Cosmpolitan Magazine and the headline was “Score a better mood in 9 seconds”. I thought 9 seconds?? It usually takes me about 2 seconds when I see flowers to perk up………so yup I sure am lucky !!!
