The Green is Coming

At long last it feels like spring is coming, although it is a bit early to start planting outside it is a great time to introduce some new green plants to your home or office. I always find that some glossy green foliage gets me in the mood for the gardening to come.

Some people are intimidated by plants but really it is just a matter of finding the right ones for your location.  Most houseplants enjoy bright indirect light and water about once a week but there are plants that thrive in low light or high light or on a lot of water or very little water. All that you need to do is to find the one that matches your location.

Unfortunately there are virtually no plants that can survive in no light. Plants need sunlight for photosynthesis to transform carbon monoxide into sugar, which gives them energy. This process also involves the plant releasing oxygen into the air, which can be nice in an environment that is stuffy after a winter of heaters and closed windows.

Green plants can also improve the atmosphere in an office the oxygen released can help with alertness and studies have found that workers feel more productive and less likely to fall ill in an environment with plants.

Our plant ladies Elaine and Vanessa have recently brought some beautiful plants into the store so come in and see us and we can help you chose a nice plant that will work well in your home or office and give you a sneak peak at the season to come.
