Symbolism: Gentian flowers represent justice, victory, and determination, earning them the title of "flower of victory" due to their upward flowering shape.

Description: These cool, special, and linear flowers are typically blue or purplish-blue, but can also be found in purple, violet, mauve, yellow, white, or red. The four or five petals are usually united into a trumpet, funnel, or bell shape, giving the flowers a refreshing appearance.

Named after: The name gentian is derived from Gentius, the king of ancient Illyria who allegedly discovered the plant's medicinal benefits.

Native to: Globally in temperate and alpine regions, especially in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and New Zealand

Flowering period: Mid-late spring to early summer in Canada

Vase life: Approximately 10 days
