Description: Gerberas may be “everyday” flowers, but their round, long-lasting blooms are always eye-catching. They come in a variety of rich colours, including reds, oranges, yellows, peaches, creams, and white.

Named after: 18th-century German naturalist, Traugott Gerbera

Native to: South Africa and Asia

Flowering period: From late spring through autumn in the garden

Vase life: 4 to 14 days
